A builder has been confirmed for the internal block work and should commence work mid-June or sooner if there is adverse weather. As I write this, we still await installation of an electric meter.

May’s exercise took place at Leithope Forest and in the morning involved small groups in a sound search along forest tracks, (part of a light and sound technique for night searches), followed by casualty assessment and first aid. In the afternoon the team split in two and worked with two casualties which involved practice defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Since evacuating a casualty over rough terrain makes CPR impractical intermittent CPR was practised. This required careful timing with 5 minutes of CPR followed by 5 minutes of evacuation until reaching an ambulance. As CPR is exhausting a continuous rotation of resuscitators was carried out for the 32 compressions to 2 bag/mask breathes of oxygen every minute.

Like other charities the team is experiencing a squeeze on donations and the loss of some fund raising activities. Team members have been asked to come up with other money raising ideas. If you could help us out with a race night, a pub quiz, bingo, or sponsorship from a sporting event, we'd love to hear from you.
Recently the Cornhill community ran an evening race night to raise funds for the team. We thanked them by attending their event held on Coronation Sunday, putting on first aid demonstrations covering CPR with the opportunity to have a go.
