Support Us

The Border Search and Rescue Unit is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO 23213) and relies heavily on fundraising to provide the high level of service that we do. Mountain Rescue teams in Scotland receive a small amount of support from the Scottish Executive, although this is not sufficient to cover all of the expenses of running the team, and is not guaranteed for the future. There are a few easy ways to support the team...

Make a donation:

You can donate instantly through our CAF Donate page using the 'Donate' form opposite.  If you are a fundraiser and want to set up a fundraising page for BSARU, please contact us using the form at the bottom of the page and we can arrange for a page to be set up for you.  You can use your credit or debit card through our secure donation platform at CAF Donate.

Legacies

You may like to consider leaving a legacy to BSARU in your will after you have made sure your loved ones will be looked after.  As little as 1% of your residual estate can make a big difference to our Charity - helping to keep our volunteers safe with proper equipment and vehicles, and making sure that BSARU will continue our valuable work in the community for years to come.

Scottish Mountain Rescue is a member of the National Free Wills Network. This means that we are able to offer our supporters the opportunity to have their will written free of charge by a local solicitor (with Scottish Mountain Rescue paying a discounted rate for the writing of simple wills). Once you have made provision for your loved ones we hope that you will also consider leaving a gift in your will to Border Search and Rescue Team, although there is no obligation to do so.

To use the service, please either complete the online form on Scottish Mountain Rescue’s website Gifts in Wills Information Pack - request (donorfy.com) or contact us with your full name and address.

You will then receive a pack from the National Free Wills Network explaining how the process works, and with a list of your local participating solicitors. You can choose from the list of participating solicitors and then make contact with them to make an appointment within 90 days of receiving your pack. On completion of your will, the solicitor returns the paperwork to the National Free Wills Network and Scottish Mountain Rescue will pay a discounted rate for your simple will.
