When local cycling maestro Kev Welsh of RubberSideDown Mountain Biking celebrated his 50th birthday he decided to ask for friends to donate to charity rather than provide gifts. As a result, cheques for more than £300 each were provided to the British Heart Foundation and ourselves.
Kev stated “I have also been grateful for the first aid support provided at local cycling events by members of the rescue team and you never know when they might be needed when cycling in the Cheviots.”
We've used the money to buy ten special LED torches, essential for searching at this time of year. We'd like to thank Kev for providing these torches for the team. As winter approaches, we spend more time working in the dark and powerful torches make up an essential item of personal kit.
