New Base Update

Thanks to receipt of a grant, we hope in in the next couple of months to have a heating system and solar panels installed in the base.

Callouts

On the 4th of January the team had their first call out of the year with a request from the police at 22.43 hours to assist in a search for a missing person in the Duns area. Around 01.00 hours the missing person was found alive and the 19 team members who had responded were able to return home.

Night Exercise

Night exercise at Fallago Rig

The team had a night exercise in December at Fallago Ridge Wind Farm which involved some night navigation, treatment of a young casualty, and a stretcher carry out to a team ambulance.

On the 15th of January four team members, D. Buchanan, D, Rodwell, I. Stark and R. Hume, should have set off on the Montane Spine, MRT Challenge North. The 160 mile race, along the northern section of the Pennine Way, is for members of Mountain Rescue Teams, and starts at Hardraw in North Yorkshire, finishing at Kirk Yetholm. The competitors have 108 hours in which to complete the race. Read how they got on in next month’s Kelso Life or on our web page or Facebook.

In January team member E Chelley attended the SMR two day Avalanche Companion Course held at Glenmore Lodge.

Fund Raising

Between Christmas and New Year, the Horse and Hound Country Inn, Bonchester Bridge, hosted a quiz on behalf of the team.

Our raffle organised by team member Leeann Ross, was very successful. Our thanks to all contributors of raffle prizes.
